The Little Lilypad is a lifestyle blog mostly written by a mum to two beautiful, cheeky and entertaining daughters. It is sometimes written by the Man on the Pad or by one of our baby bloggers. Occasionally we accept guest posts too. There is frequently talk of sustainable living, saving money, lifestyle and travel. It is hopefully helpful, sometimes funny and always honest.

Do you love or loathe Halloween?

We weren't allowed to go Trick or Treating as children, my parents just wouldn't allow it but Halloween has become a big celebration in our house. We have had a party every year since my eldest was 3 and the adults dress up as much as the children and trick or treating is a big part of the event for the children.

 Trick or Treat

I always go round and "warn" the neighbours beforehand (and usually take extra sweets round too) and mostly they are all good sports. I do understand that for some people, especially those living on their own, that Halloween can be genuinely scary but we have no tricks ..... just little people hoping for treats!

And they definitely got treats .....

Treat Bucket

Our Halloween activities included games, food, laughing (and some wrestling ... don't ask) but no neighbours were intimidated, everyone was in good spirits (not the ghostly kind) and whether you love or loathe Halloween, it really is just a bit of fun.

Pumpkins

So finally before the children went home, we had a pumpkin competition ..... which one do you think won?

We LOVE Halloween, but we're stuck in the middle of nowhere this year on holiday so no trick or treating for us this year. We decorated though and dressed up!

  3. I love the one on the right - but only as I did a similar one this afternoon and I know how much effort all those teeth take!

  6. I like Halloween but not trick or treating. My parents didn't allow it, saying it was doorstop begging and I'm afraid for me I agree. The children are allowed to dress up and have a tea party but not trick or treat. We don't get trick or treaters at home either because we live on a main road so this helps the kids get over the desire because they don't see other people doing it!

  8. I am not a fan of Halloween I am afraid. We have a tub of sweets in case anybody comes round but as for the rest of it, I am bit meh to it really.
