I have worn glasses since i was 9 years old.

I remember the day vividly when the school nurse did an eye test on every child in our class, we all sat on the floor while each child was tested. 

She asked me to read the bottom line. I couldn't.

She asked me to read the line above that, I couldn't.

She asked me to start from the top and see how far down I could read. It wasn't very far.

So when Select Specs got in touch to advise that they were running a competition to WIN Free glasses for life, I knew that I needed to shout about it. Wearing glasses now is much cooler than it was when I was 9 years old, in fact my "almost" 9 year old actually wants glasses despite having perfect vision(oh the irony).

  5. What a great competition! I too am a long-time glasses wearer and it's astonishing how much more fashionable they've become in the last twenty or so years since I was a kid with my chunky awful NHS frames. Great prize for someone!

  9. I have worn glasses since I was about 10 years old and I will always remember the moment I looked up and saw the leaves on the trees! It was an amazing moment and this sounds like an amazing competition.

  12. I've had glasses since a similar age and hated them, and the funny thing is, Sausage has great eyesight but would so love to wear glasses! There's no accounting for kids' and their wants sometimes :-)

  13. Wow - free glasses for life is an amazing prize! I've been wearing glasses since about 14, although I have to admit that I move dot contact lenses when doing sport at school and I tend to favour them with small children about too. Not so good for my eyes wearing them as many hours as I do though!
