The Little Lilypad is a lifestyle blog mostly written by a mum to two beautiful, cheeky and entertaining daughters. It is sometimes written by the Man on the Pad or by one of our baby bloggers. Occasionally we accept guest posts too. There is frequently talk of sustainable living, saving money, lifestyle and travel. It is hopefully helpful, sometimes funny and always honest.

  1. Siblings - April

    Posted on

I talk about my girls most of the time on the blog so when I found the "Siblings" linky, I was kicking myself that I didn't know about it before. I have to admit that I am always wary of the photos I share on the blog (mostly because my mom frets about pictures being online) but I love the idea of this linky.

My girls can be the best of friends but the worst of enemies, they either love each other hopelessly or fight like cats and dogs. There never really seems to be any middle ground.

However, the little one has been quite poorly lately (resulting in an ambulance ride and hospital visit) and while the little one is usually the more boistrous and zealous one, her fragility has brought out the protective instinct in her older sister. Maybe April will mean the month of friendship??

  2. Easter Food Crafts

    Posted on

Considering the Lilypad is a handmade, craft style website, we don't actually do a lot of craft stuff on the blog but this Easter we have been inspired by our blogging friends and Pinterest to create some foodie based Easter activities.

    Easter Nest Pops

When I saw this idea on Me & My Shadow blog, I just had to do it with the girls. We made a lot of mess but they loved it!

    Easter 4

    White Chocolate "carrots"

This was an idea I saw on Pinterest and I think we might need a little more practice but the girls had fun. We just melted some white chocolate, added orange food colouring, rolled the strawberries in them and et voila .....

    Easter 1

So after all that creating ..... I made the man on the pad indulge me in some spring time flowers!

    Easter 2

    Happy Easter!!

  3. Where do you call home?

    Posted on

    Where do you call home?

    Is it a childhood home?

Is it a town you have lived in?

Is it the house where you reside?

    Or is it something else?

     file0001093550825

Sometimes for me, it is the smell of the perfume that my mom used to wear or seeing a bend in the road that tells me I am "nearly" home. It is a receipe for my Nan's special Apple Pie or watching the Sound of Music on a rainy day.

     Apple Pie

Home isn't always about bricks and mortar, home is where you feel most comfortable, most contented and most at ease. I gave birth to my youngest daughter on our sofa, there is no certainly no greater feeling of being at ease than being able to give birth in your own home,(although many of our guests frequently ask when we are going to get a new sofa).

So is home a place, a person, a thing or somewhere to go? Is it material or spiritual? Or…is it all of the above?

I think honestly, home will always be going wherever my family is. I call that home. I associate HOME with love, warmth and comfort. It has nothing to do with a physical house or structure. It’s all about the love and warmth I get when I’m there. *insert warm fuzzy feeling*

Home is where memories are made.

What about you? Where do you call home?

  4. eBay Inspires .... me!

    Posted on

I have to admit that I have only really started using eBay in the last few years (I am not entirely sure how it passed me by before) but now before I buy anything, the thrifty side of me has to check eBay to see if I can get a better deal. The range of products listed every week never ceases to amaze me and you really can find anything on eBay.

So in March 2014, eBay launched their eBay Collections and we were delighted to be asked to create some of the the first collections to feature on the site. This was extremely exciting, especially when we found out that we were in the company of style icons such as Danni Minogue and Kelly Hoppen. The collections are essentially a mood board or an online scrap book for you to create a visual picture of what you are trying to create, whether that be a room, a theme or (like me) just indulging a shopping habit!

    Ebay Collections

eBay have rolled out their collections now so you can click and create collections to your hearts desire. You will find  "add to collection"  just underneath "add to watch list" on each item listing. It really is that easy. I have created collections around our home and socialising .... which is something we love to do! The Man on the Pad is a little concerned at how excited I got over finding new things to add to each collection but it is a great way to see if items work together, especially if you are redesigning a room.

If you would like to have a little look at our collections, just click here. You can follow the boards too, if the mood takes you!

    Click.

    Create.

    Inspire.

eBay Inspires me to shop more cleverly. How will you use the collections?
