The Little Lilypad is a lifestyle blog mostly written by a mum to two beautiful, cheeky and entertaining daughters. It is sometimes written by the Man on the Pad or by one of our baby bloggers. Occasionally we accept guest posts too. There is frequently talk of sustainable living, saving money, lifestyle and travel. It is hopefully helpful, sometimes funny and always honest.

  1. Sometimes you read an email, digest and discard. Sometimes it needs action and sometimes it is simply a gift of vintage comedy that you have to share. I had this in an email this week and it made me smile ..... I hope you do too??

  2. When I was initially asked to review the Silk Perfect pillow case, I was a little dubious if the truth be known.  Lets be honest, who doesnt want the luxury of sleeping on a silk pillowcase but the sales "blurb" seemed a little too good to be true. Here is a little extract for you ...

"The skin tends to become more sensitive during pregnancy, not only due to higher hormone levels, but because it has become more stretched and delicate. This feeling of sensitivity can leave mums to be feeling uncomfortable making sleep difficult.

Like a glass of water for your skin, you will wake feeling cooled, revived and regenerated ready to take on the challenges of pregnancy!

SilkPerfect Luxury Silk Pillowcases are expertly designed to improve your quality of sleep. By dramatically cooling the face throughout the night SilkPerfect helps to regulate your temperature allowing you to relax and fall asleep more easily"

                                          Silk Pillow

I love my sleep (who doesnt) and with claims of being able to wake up without a "bed head", I needed to try this product. So after the sample arrived, I couldnt wait to put it on my pillow and go to bed (I dont need much of an excuse to go to sleep these days). My other half was a little perturbed that he didnt have one to trial but this did not stop me from kissing him goodnight and snuggling into the cool pillowcase.

The moment I awoke, I jumped out of bed to look in the mirror (well as fast as my pregnant body would allow) and I have to admit that I looked a little less like Maculey Culkin from Home Alone and more like me! Its a running joke in our house that I wake up with my hair sticking out in all directions but after sleeping on the pillow, I was surprisingly "normal" looking!!

The next evening was particularly warm and I had thrown the covers off (and onto my long suffering other half) but despite the heat, my head was genuinely cooler. In addition to this, due to my(alledged and unproven) incessant snoring I am usually propped up on a number of pillows but the cotton back of the Silk Pillow prevented it from slipping down.

I feel like I want to update you on the new benefits I find with the pillow each day but I suspect that the best way for you to find out, is to try it. Like me, you maybe more than pleasantly surprised!!

  3. My gorgeous daughter sleepily told me earlier that she has had a brilliant few days and I have to say that the sunshine does make us all feel better on the Lilypad. I dont think we have "SAD" (aka seasonal affective disorder) but I do think that the warmer weather really does make a difference.

Despite being pregnant, I am loving the warmer weather, its unusual for us to get it consistently so I am taking advantage. Due to impending baby arrival, "they" wont let me on a plane any more, so I am welcoming the sunshine even more.

After a busy few days filled with (finally) shopping for bambino's arrival, a photoshoot and far too many BBQ's, the physio was not too amused with the "state" of my pelvis  today and I have been given a support belt. Can I just say that this is not glamorous and in any way something I would recommend for a night out. However it is apparently going to keep me inline and under control (good luck with that bit).

I am quite prepared to try anything to keep the pain at bay, so if you do happen to see me wandering around, the somewhat "attractive" support belt is not my rebellion against fashion, its just me trying to stop the rebellion of my SPD!

  4. We were recently approached by Blooming Lovely Jewellery about their fantastic pregnancy necklaces. As regular readers of our blog will know, Chief Frog here is pregnant, so this was certainly a product of interest to us!

We were sent one of the products to review and were delighted with what we received. The necklace comes beautifully gift wrapped in tissue and sits snugly in an ususual little hessian bag. I had personally never heard of a "Bola" but it is traditionally worn in Mexico, with the chime worn low over the growing bump and according to the product write up, "the soft tickling chimes serenade and soothe your little one as you go about your daily life"

At first I kept wondering what was "tinkling" as I was moving around and kept reminding myself that it was around my neck but as the day wore on, the soft chimes are indeed relaxing and I loved the fact that the necklace rope was adjustable. So some days I have worn it "bouncing" over my bump and others, I have worn it as a short necklace.

I cant comment at the moment as to whether it soothes or calms the little one but trust me, I have my fingers crossed!!

We are therefore delighted to offer this as one of our fabulous gifts for parents to be and it is available in two different styles!

Its an amazing way to bond with your unborn baby and if you are anything like me, love jewellery, love your bump - how can you not adore it?
